Knife-Wielding Robber Stabbs Shop Worker in Finchley

Police were called at 1pm on Tuesday, 20 October after a brazen robbery in a Finchley shop turned violent. The suspect, armed with a knife, attacked two staff members during a struggle, stabbing a male worker and slashing a female colleague’s hand.

The male victim was rushed to hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, while the female suffered a hand laceration. The thug made off with stolen goods — including the victims’ bank cards.

Flying Squad Nab Armed Robber on Finchley High Road

Flying Squad officers quickly got involved, tracking CCTV footage of the stolen cards’ use. An eagle-eyed cop spotted the suspect on Finchley High Road.

Backing from local North West Basic Command Unit officers saw the suspect confronted. He threatened officers with a large kitchen knife but was swiftly tasered and arrested.

The 27-year-old was caught with stolen property and is now in custody at a north London police station, facing charges of robbery and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Sergeant Gary Taylor, Flying Squad, said: “This incident shows brilliant teamwork between Flying Squad and local cops who quickly caught a dangerous individual. Our thoughts go out to the victims — we wish them a speedy recovery.

“Officers face dangers like this every day protecting the public. Thankfully, no officers were hurt, and the situation ended safely.

“Violence against police or the public won’t be tolerated. We are determined to bring offenders to justice.”
