Armed Gang Raid Family Home in Sutton Coldfield, Steal BMW at Gunpoint

Terrifying Early Morning Robbery

A ruthless gang launched a dawn raid on a family home in Sutton Coldfield, robbing them at gunpoint before making off with a prized BMW. The shocking break-in happened just after 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, at a house on Bedford Drive, close to Good Hope Hospital.

Police say at least three masked offenders, believed to have sped to the scene on e-bikes, forced their way inside. One thug, armed and threatening a family member, grabbed the car keys before the gang sped off. Some suspects fled on motorcycles, making their getaway swift and terrifying.

Police Race to Scene but Gang Vanishes

West Midlands Police confirmed officers arrived within minutes but found the house deserted and the gang gone. A spokesperson said:

“We were called to reports of an armed robbery at a property on Bedford Drive. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the suspect holding a weapon made threats.”

“Investigations are ongoing. We’re reviewing CCTV footage to track down those responsible.”

Community Fear and Political Outcry

The brazen raid has left Sutton Coldfield residents shaken. Local MP Andrew Mitchell slammed the crime as “shocking,” telling police he shares the community’s deep concern and demands quick updates:

“This gun crime has understandably unnerved the local community. I’ve been in touch with police to stress the seriousness and am urging increased patrols.”

Mitchell also warned that closing Sutton Police Station could fuel crime, pushing for a stronger police presence to keep the streets safe.
