Two Arrested After Brazen Early Morning Robbery in Gillingham

Victim Attacked on Canterbury Street

A man in his 30s was targeted in a violent robbery on Canterbury Street, Gillingham, just after 2am on Sunday 12 May 2019. He told Kent Police that a group of men tried to snatch his mobile phone.

The phone was knocked to the ground. As the victim bent down to retrieve it, he was assaulted. The robbers also made off with his watch at the junction with 1 Street.

Suspects Caught Quick in Police Dragnet

Police swiftly zeroed in on two men, aged 18 and 20, matching the suspects’ description. Both from Gillingham, they were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Officers recovered the stolen phone and watch, returning them to the victim.

Men Held in Custody as Investigation Continues

The pair remain in police custody as inquiries press on. Kent Police continue to investigate the incident.
