Drag Artist Darren Moore Found Dead in Cardiff City Centre
Darren Moore, 39, from Newport, was identified as the man who died in Cardiff city centre early Sunday, January 22. Police were called to a lane near Windsor Place and Park Lane after reports of the incident.
Last Seen in Stunning Drag Outfit
Darren was last spotted at around 5am dressed in drag, wearing full face make-up, a luminous green dress, a blonde wig, diamante heels, and carrying a matching clutch bag. Detectives are urgently seeking anyone who saw him or was near Park Lane and Windsor Place between 3am and 7am that morning.
Police Launch Major Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Raikes of the South Wales Police Major Crime Investigation Team said: “Extensive inquiries are being carried out to establish the cause and circumstances of Mr Moore’s death. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.” A post-mortem examination has been conducted by the Home Office, with further investigations ongoing.
Superintendent Michelle Conquer, Head of Operations at Cardiff and Vale BCU, added: “We understand there is shock and upset in the community following the death of Darren Moore, a well-known drag artist in Cardiff.” An incident room has been set up at Cardiff Central Police Station, with specially trained family liaison officers supporting Darren’s family.
Community Asked to Avoid Speculation
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward and requested the public refrain from speculation on social media while the investigation continues. A police cordon remains in place at the scene as officers maintain a visible presence around the city centre.
Darren’s family described him as “a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.” They said: “He was our social butterfly and always the life and soul of the party. Darren made time for everyone and never passed judgment. We thank everyone for their support but now ask for privacy to grieve.”
