Emergency crews rushed to the A31 near Burley in the New Forest after a lorry careered off the road at 3.30am this Monday. The LGV ended up wedged in the trees, sparking a major recovery operation.
A car was also involved in the crash, but luckily, no serious injuries have been reported.
Lanes Closed, Traffic Chaos Looms
Firefighters from across the county and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service attended the scene. One lane of the A31 eastbound towards southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton remains shut as crews work to clear the wreckage.
The private car has already been towed away by a local police recovery team. However, the lorry and trailer are still stuck deep in the embankment.
Big Delays Expected Tonight
A Highways England spokesperson warned: “The A31 eastbound between the A338 Ringwood and the M27 will keep one lane open during this morning’s rush hour.
They added the lorry removal is scheduled for 8pm this evening, which will force a full eastbound closure. Drivers are urged to expect delays.
