Wanted Suspect Busted and Drugs Seized at Tonbridge Railway Station

A major police swoop at Tonbridge Railway Station ended with a wanted man arrested and drugs confiscated. Officers cracked down hard on crime during an evening operation on Friday, January 21, 2020.

Violent Offender Nabbed on the Spot

Police identified and cuffed a 19-year-old from Sevenoaks wanted over a violent assault. He was caught during routine checks by uniformed and plainclothes officers patrolling the station.

“I’m pleased we located a man wanted in connection with a violent crime,” said Sergeant Ash Boxall of the Tonbridge Community Policing Team.

Drug Crackdown and Fines Galore

Specially trained police dogs sniffed out suspects carrying illegal substances at the station’s entrances and exits. In total, 18 people were searched, with four slapped with on-the-spot fines for cannabis possession and one given a formal warning.

Sergeant Boxall warned: “Drug use, no matter how big or small, fuels crime. Anyone thinking of carrying or using drugs should ask themselves – is it really worth the risk?”

Fare Dodgers Also Face the Music

The operation didn’t just target drug users and violent offenders. Twenty-three fare evaders were also caught and penalised, with railway staff backing the crackdown all the way.

Keeping Kent Streets Safe

Sergeant Boxall added: “We continue to work closely with railway enforcement officers and neighbouring police forces to disrupt violent crime. Operations like this send a clear message to criminals, including those carrying weapons. We’ll keep making sure our communities stay safe.”
