Five Arrested Over Yeovil Man’s Mysterious Disappearance

Five men are in custody suspected of murdering Michael Wheeler, a 37-year-old Yeovil man missing since 24 August 2024.

Michael Vanishes Without a Trace

Michael Wheeler was last seen nearly a month ago in Yeovil. Concern skyrocketed when his car was found abandoned in the town last week. Despite extensive searches and public appeals, there has been no sign of him or contact with family and friends. He has also missed several regular appointments, heightening fears for his welfare.

Five Men Held for Questioning

The men arrested range from late teens to late 30s. They remain in police custody as Avon and Somerset Police probe deeper into Michael’s disappearance. A sixth man arrested last week is currently out on bail while investigations carry on.

“We have been keeping an open mind over what has happened to Michael, who has now not been seen for a month, but we can confirm this is being treated as a murder inquiry,” said Detective Chief Inspector Lorett Spierenburg.

“Arrests were made last week to enable us to question several individuals while under caution to understand if they knew anything that could help us locate Michael. Detectives will be questioning all five men as part of our ongoing efforts to establish what has happened and whether any criminal offences have occurred.”

Family Supported as Investigation Deepens

Michael’s family is being supported by specially trained officers as the probe continues. Police have urged anyone with information about Michael Wheeler’s disappearance to step forward immediately.
