Five retired Greater Manchester Police officers have been arrested over the shocking sexual exploitation of a young girl back in the 1960s. The revelation has rocked the city, sparking anger and demands for justice.

Ex-Vice Squad Officers Among Those Busted

The suspects include former members of GMP’s infamous ‘VICE squad’—a unit once responsible for protecting sex workers from the old Collyhurst police station. The arrests came after months of a painstaking probe, sparked by the brave victim’s allegations.

Three arrests happened last month in Bolton, Bury, and Trafford, while the other two were detained earlier this month. All five men, aged between 73 and 81, have been questioned on suspicion of sexual offences and misconduct. They’ve now been released on conditional bail as the investigation presses on.

GMP Vows: No Abuser Will Escape Justice

Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker praised the victim’s courage and vowed that time won’t shield offenders. She said:

“We commend the woman’s courage for coming forward. We are determined that no abuser, no matter how much time has passed, will escape justice.”

“I’m sure the public will be as troubled as I am that five former officers are suspected of abusing a vulnerable child who deserved their protection.”

Parker also reassured the public that today’s GMP is fully committed to investigating these crimes and bringing all offenders to account.

Ongoing Probe: Operation Salvador

The case is being investigated under Operation Salvador. Police urge anyone with information to call GMP on 101 quoting Operation Salvador.
