Met Cops Nab £400k Worth of Suspected Cocaine in Roehampton Car Stop
Officers from the Met’s Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) have made a massive drug bust, seizing an estimated £400,000 of suspected cocaine after stopping a car in Roehampton.
Two Men Arrested with Drugs in Car and Property
On Tuesday afternoon, 18 August, South West VSU officers on patrol in Hollybourne Avenue flagged down a vehicle for checks. Inside were two men, aged in their 40s and 60s. A search revealed one hiding a bag of suspected cocaine in his sock.
A vehicle search uncovered a backpack holding around 0.25kg of suspected cocaine. Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Large Haul Found in Linked Homes
Police then searched a nearby property, uncovering 1.75kg of compressed white powder believed to be cocaine, a two-litre tub of loose cannabis worth around £5,000, and roughly £22,000 in cash.
A second address search revealed three small bags of suspected cocaine.
£400,000 Worth of Drugs Off The Streets
The Met’s South West drugs and violent crime taskforce estimates the total haul of two kilos of cocaine has a street value of about £400,000. Both men remain in custody as investigations continue.
A/Detective Inspector Treasa O’Donoghue said:
“Drugs are closely linked to much of the violence in London. We will keep targeting dealers and protecting our communities.
“Dealers should know we are always watching, using every tactic to stop you.”
“Stop and searches are vital safeguarding tools based on intelligence to protect the public from violence.
