Blaze Breaks Out in Early Hours

At around 4.20 a.m. on Sunday, emergency crews were scrambled to a massive fire at the former Abbeymoor Nursing Home on Sherwood Road, Worksop.

Firefighters Battle Flames with Full Force

The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed six fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, and a water bowser to tackle the inferno. Nearby roads were shut down as the blaze raged.

Two Men Arrested, One Seriously Injured

Police arrested two men, 27 and 33, on suspicion of arson following treatment at Bassetlaw Hospital. The younger man suffered injuries believed to be potentially fatal.

Investigation Underway, Public Appeals for Information

“We have arrested two suspects, but inquiries are at an early stage. A full investigation into the fire’s cause will now take place,” said Detective Inspector Simon Harrison.

“We urge anyone who saw what happened or has any information to come forward immediately.”

Due to severe damage, emergency crews are still securing the site, delaying a detailed search.
