CCTV Snap Released After Brutal Pub Attack in Liverpool

Unprovoked Assault Shocks Aigburth Pub

Detectives are hunting a man seen on CCTV following a violent assault at a pub in Aigburth, Liverpool, on Friday, 4 August. The victim, a 58-year-old man, was sitting near the door to the pub’s beer garden around 10:30 pm when an unknown man casually snatched his reading glasses from the table – no word spoken.

Moments later, the same man launched a savage, unprovoked attack. The victim suffered serious facial injuries and a critical eye wound. He was rushed to hospital and remains under medical care.

Suspect Spotted Leaving With Woman

After the brutal assault, the attacker fled the scene accompanied by a woman. Police describe him as white, mid-30s, about 5’10”, average build with short-cropped hair. He was last seen in an orange t-shirt and light shorts.

The woman is also white, mid-30s, around 5’3”, with a medium build and long dark hair tied in a ponytail.

Police Appeal For Public Help

Merseyside Police have combed the Lark Lane area with thorough CCTV checks and forensic sweeps. They’re urging anyone who recognises the man in the released images to come forward immediately.

“This appalling, unprovoked attack has left the victim with serious injuries. We need the public’s help to identify the man in the footage,” said Detective Inspector Chris Hawitt.

Witnesses or pub-goers with photos or videos from that night are urged to get in touch.
