Coastguard Helicopter Airlifts Patient from Guernsey in Midnight Med Evac
A dramatic life-saving medical evacuation unfolded late Thursday night as a Coastguard rescue helicopter swooped in to transfer a critically ill patient from Guernsey to Southampton.
Rescue 175 Scrambled from Lee on the Solent
The twin-engine Rescue 175, based at Lee on the Solent, was scrambled shortly after 10pm. Four crew members raced to the Channel Island to airlift the patient needing urgent hospital treatment.
Overnight Flight and Smooth Handover
Just after midnight, the helicopter took off from Guernsey Hospital, flying over the Isle of Wight en route to Lee on the Solent. Waiting on the ground were paramedics and the Hillhead Coastguard Search and Rescue team, ready to ferry the patient onward to Southampton General Hospital.
