Tragic Cliffside Death Near Dover Sparks Major Rescue Effort
Emergency services rushed to the iconic White Cliffs near Dover on Thursday after a body was found at the base of the rocks. At least five police vehicles, ambulances, coastguard teams, and specialised units scrambled to the scene following the grim discovery.
Rescue Teams Mobilise at 1.15pm
The alarm was raised at around 1.15pm when responders spotted the person trapped between the jagged rocks below the cliffs. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Folkestone, Deal, and Langdon Battery joined forces with the Dover RNLI lifeboat to recover the individual.
Body Recovered but Life Could Not Be Saved
The person was safely brought back to shore aboard the lifeboat with a police officer on board. Sadly, despite the swift efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirm the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Coastguard spokesperson said: “His Majesty’s Coastguard has been assisting with an incident at Langdon Bay in Kent this afternoon (October 6). The Coastguard was made aware of the incident at around 1.15pm, and assets including Coastguard Rescue Teams from Folkestone, Deal and Langdon Battery were sent to the scene. An RNLI lifeboat from Dover was also sent to the scene. Kent Police and the ambulance service are in attendance.
