Car Flips onto Roof Near Chale in Dramatic West Wight Crash

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after a green Land Rover Defender flipped onto its roof just before 7pm on Sunday near the ‘Welcome to Chale’ sign in West Wight.

The vehicle, carrying two people, narrowly missed smashing into the famous welcome sign before rolling over and crashing into a grass bank. Miraculously, both occupants escaped serious injury as the car came to rest on its roof.

Firefighters and Police Swift to Respond

  • A single fire crew from Newport quickly arrived to make the vehicle safe.
  • Hampshire Constabulary Island Roads Policing officers also attended the scene.

Road Closure and Recovery Operation

Police have cordoned off Stag Lane to manage the cleanup and removal of the written-off Land Rover. Firefighters and members of the public helped direct traffic around the crash site while recovery work is underway.
