Fire Breaks Out at Union Jack Club Complex
Firefighters raced to a fierce blaze at the Union Jack Club and Capital Tower complex on Waterloo Road at around 9:30 a.m. this Saturday, November 16. Flames were spotted licking a wooden doorway, prompting the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to dispatch at least five fire engines to the scene.
Buses Diverted, Road Shut
The fire caused major disruption on the busy A301 Waterloo Road southbound. Bus routes 1, 59, 68, 172, 176, 188, and C10 were all diverted, throwing commuters into chaos. The Metropolitan Police stepped in to manage traffic and keep the public safe amid the snarls.
Road Reopens But Cause Unknown
By 11 a.m., Waterloo Road was back open, easing delays for drivers and public transport users. No injuries have been reported so far. However, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, with the London Fire Brigade expected to provide more details soon.
