Shed Goes Up in Flames Behind Newhaven Cemetery

East Sussex Fire Services rushed to a blazing shed at the back of Newhaven Cemetery late Monday night.

Firefighters Called Just Before 11pm

A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) revealed: “We were called at 22:47 on 20 February 2023 after reports of a fire on Lewes Road, Newhaven. A shed was alight in the cemetery.”

Quick Action from Fire Crews

Firefighters battled the blaze using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to bring the flames under control.

Suspicious Blaze Under Investigation

The cause of the fire remains unconfirmed but is being treated as suspicious. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
