Havant Council Racing to Slash Cash Out to 750+ Businesses in Covid Relief Blitz
Cash Rolling Out Fast to Hard-Hit Businesses
Havant Borough Council is pulling out all the stops to get emergency coronavirus grants into the pockets of over 750 local firms. From small businesses to retail, hospitality, and leisure outlets, staff are working flat out to speed up payments and keep the borough’s economy ticking during these grim times.
Hundreds More Urged to Apply Now
But there’s a catch — hundreds of eligible businesses still haven’t applied. The council is warning: don’t hang about. These grants could be the lifeline you need to survive the lockdown turmoil. Swift action is critical to stay afloat.
Payments Zooming Out, But Some Delays Expected
Dozens of businesses have already seen cash drop in their accounts, with more paid daily. Automatic payments are zooming out to 219 firms with direct debit info on file. Havant admits it got the 10-day payment timeline wrong in some automated emails — payouts will come before April 30 for completed online applicants.
Councillor Michael Wilson, Leader of Havant Borough Council, said: “We, like all councils across the country, have had to build this process from scratch – and it’s our absolute priority. It’s vital to get it right so money lands fast and smoothly in the right hands. Some cases where business rates info doesn’t match might take longer, but most are being processed quickly.”
How to Apply
If your business is eligible but you haven’t verified your details online yet, don’t delay. Head to www.havant.gov.uk/coronavirus-business-support and get your application in before it’s too late.
