Serious Crash Shuts A249 Northbound Between M2 and A2
The A249 in Kent is closed northbound after a major collision involving two cars and a motorcycle. The smash happened around 3.30pm on Saturday, sparking a full emergency response including the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance.

Kent Police, Highways England, and emergency services rushed to the scene. All trapped traffic within the closure has now been cleared, but the road remains shut while officers carry out a collision investigation. Drivers should expect delays for several hours.
Follow Diversion Route to Avoid Delays
Road users are urged to follow the Hollow Diamond diversion signs.
- Leave the A249 at Stockbury Roundabout, take the northbound Maidstone Road exit towards Sittingbourne.
- Continue to Key Street Roundabout, keep left to join northbound Sheppey Way.
- At Bobbing Roundabout, rejoin the A249 northbound past the closure.
Highways England spokesman: “The road will remain closed for several hours while collision investigation work is carried out. Please allow extra time for your journey.”
