M11 SHUT: Multi-Car Crash Brings Chaos Between Junctions 6 and 4
The M11 southbound has been slammed shut after a serious multi-vehicle smash between Junction 6 (M25) and Junction 4 (A406 North Circular), Essex Police confirm. Two lanes on the northbound side have also been closed as emergency crews tackle the scene.
Traffic Nightmare: Two Miles Stuck
One car has veered off the carriageway, complicating recovery efforts. Highways England warns of at least two miles of gridlocked traffic trapped in the standstill. The closure is expected to last until 1am Monday at the earliest, causing major disruption for night commuters.
Police and Highways England Respond
An Essex Roads Policing team is managing the incident amid challenging conditions. A Highways England spokesperson said:
“The M11 in Essex is currently closed southbound between J6 (M25) and J4 (A406 North Circular) due to a traffic collision. Essex Police are on scene. Traffic is being diverted via the Solid Black Circle symbol.”
Follow the Diversion or Stay Clear
