Four legendary hotels with deep roots in Scandinavian history are joining forces with Nordic Choice Hotels from March 22. Oscarsborg Festning, Reenskaug Hotel, and Kongsvinger Festning in Norway, along with Torreby Slott in Sweden, are stepping into the spotlight with a fresh strategic partnership — blending historic charm with modern appeal.

Preserving History Through Use

“Utilisation is the best protection,” says Tony Eide, Chairman and GM of The Fortress Hotels. Guests can explore historic surroundings combined with upgraded facilities and experiences. Joining a bigger corporation means increased accessibility for more visitors, stronger support, and access to new booking systems — a major strategic move for these iconic hotels.

Collaboration Over Competition

This partnership pioneers cooperation in a travel industry once blindsided by international booking giants. Their aim? To fuel Nordic tourism value and grow the travel sector from within.

Direct Bookings to Skyrocket

The four Fortress Hotels offer a total of 149 rooms, including multi-bedroom apartment suites, plus unique banquet and conference spaces. Up until now, they relied heavily on booking agencies charging steep commissions.

“Linking up with Nordic Choice’s vast distribution network means direct bookings from loyal members and corporate clients,” confirms Eide. “Nordic Choice has grabbed international headlines with stunning properties like Amerikalinjen, Villa Copenhagen, and Sommerro — and we can’t wait to be part of that buzz.”

Big Changes Ahead with Strawberry Rebrand

The Fortress Hotels’ parent company will soon rebrand as Strawberry, aiming for explosive growth. With over 2.3 million members, new partnerships will boost the portfolio and unlock fresh opportunities for travellers.
