Man Found Unconscious After Gourock Train Station Assault

Shock Attack on Shore Street

Just before 9pm on Saturday, December 10, a 48-year-old man was found unconscious on Shore Street, Gourock. He had just stepped off a train from Glasgow Central Station when bystanders discovered him with serious facial injuries. The victim was rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.

Police Hunt Key Witnesses

Detective Constable Ruth Elder from Greenock CID is appealing for help. She says:

“We are keen to speak to a group of young men, one of whom was on the Glasgow train arriving just before 9pm.”

Police believe a disturbance broke out on the train involving a white male in his 20s, slim build, dark hair, and wearing a dark coat. Though initially alone, this man later joined a group of casually dressed men in their 20s outside the station.

Call for Information

Several Good Samaritans helped the injured man at the scene and have already spoken to officers. Police urge anyone who was on the train or witnessed the incident near Gourock Station to come forward.

Investigators are reviewing local CCTV footage. Anyone with information should contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 1141 of Sunday, 11 December 2022. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be given to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
