Late-Night Crash Closes M2 Londonbound – Police Officer Escapes Injury
A serious collision at around 1.30am on Thursday has shut the Londonbound carriageway of the M2 near Faversham. Kent Police are leading the response to a single-vehicle crash that left several HGVs and other vehicles trapped in the traffic jam.
Londonbound M2 Closed Amid Police Investigation
The westbound carriageway remains closed as officers carry out investigations. National Highways teams are on site helping manage the standstill. Due to the complexity of the incident, police cannot confirm when the road will reopen but hope to clear the closure before the morning rush hour.
Police Officer Escapes Serious Injury
Thankfully, the police officer involved in the collision escaped without serious injuries. The incident caused major delays, with several heavy goods vehicles caught up in the closure.
Diversion Route in Place – Follow Solid Square Signs
Drivers are advised to follow the diversion route marked by solid square symbols on local road signs:
- Exit the M2 at Junction 6 and take the A251 southbound towards the A252 in Challock.
- At the roundabout with the A252, head west towards Charing and the A20 junction.
- Join the A20 westbound towards Maidstone and M20 Junction 8.
- Enter the M20 heading one bound to Junction 7.
- Exit and take the northbound A249 towards M2 Junction 5 to resume westbound journeys.
