The RNLI Portsmouth Lifeboat has been on a mission with a giant yellow welly boot – and it’s been making waves along the coast for two days straight. Originally launched to spotlight their Mayday fundraising month, this quirky campaign quickly turned into a celebration of the incredible RNLI crews and supporters.

Yellow Welly’s Epic Coastal Journey

The boot’s adventure started with Bembridge Coxswain roaring down the South Coast on his Harley, carrying the welly from Bembridge to Ryde. There, the kind folks at Hovertravel ferried it across the water to Southsea.

RNLI Crew Puts the Welly on the Move

Decked out in full kit, lifeboat crew marched the yellow welly to Southsea Castle. From there, RNLI lifeguards took over, steering it around South Parade Pier. The baton was then passed back to the lifeboat crew who carried it to the Portsmouth Lifeboat Station, where it kept watch over a lively BBQ with Stormy Stan.

Relay Continues, Spinnaker Tower Shines Yellow

On Sunday, the yellow welly made its way to the Camber in Portsmouth, where it was handed over to Hayling Lifeboat to continue the relay. Meanwhile, the iconic Spinnaker Tower lit up yellow to back the RNLI’s efforts and fundraising drive.

This lively relay highlights the dedication, creativity, and community spirit of RNLI crews and supporters all along the South Coast.
