UK Space Agency’s Tour Rockets Past 160,000 Young Fans
The UK Space Agency has wrapped up its blockbuster Space for Everyone tour, sparking space fever in over 160,000 young Britons. Over five months, the tour blasted through 13 cities across all four UK nations, aiming to inspire the next wave of space pros.
Giant Rocket and Interactive Fun
The star attraction? A jaw-dropping 72-foot replica rocket that grabbed imaginations everywhere. The tour spotlighted how space tech boosts life on Earth and showcased a galaxy of career paths for all types of talent and backgrounds.
Traveling a whopping 2,684 miles — that’s like five round trips to the ISS — the tour served up interactive exhibits, expert talks, and insider insights into the UK space sector’s booming job market. Big names like the World Wide Fund for Nature, Orbex, Skyrora, and AmbaSat joined forces to deliver top-notch info to the crowds.
Schools and Youth Groups Get a Stellar Experience
Not just open to the public, the tour welcomed 130 school, youth, and community organisations with specially guided tours, boosting educational opportunities and raising awareness about the UK’s spaceflight scene.
After its epic journey, the giant rocket will land at Spaceport Cornwall, where it’ll continue inspiring future space explorers in a free exhibition.
Leaders and Experts Praise the Mission
“Engaging over 160,000 youngsters and showcasing exciting space careers shows the huge appetite for our sector’s future,” said Matt Archer, UK Space Agency Director of Launch. “Diversity is crucial — we want talent from every background to thrive.”
Imperial College teamed up with the UK Space Agency to boost the new I’m a Space Person website, packed with free educational goodies and career advice for aspiring space professionals. Dr Simon Foster from Imperial College added:
“It’s vital young people see the huge range of roles in space and how to chase those dreams, ensuring the industry keeps its spark going.”
