Garage Blaze in Romford Sparks Appliance Safety Warning
A fierce fire tore through a garage on Sheila Road, Romford, yesterday, destroying both the garage and a vehicle. Flames also damaged a neighbouring garage. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Firefighters Responded to Over 20 Calls
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers scrambled to more than 20 emergency calls after the blaze broke out at around 4:30 p.m. Three fire engines and about 15 firefighters from Hainault, Dagenham, and Barking rushed to the scene. The fire was extinguished just under an hour later at 5:20 p.m.
Tumble Dryer Blamed for the Fire
Preliminary investigations suggest a faulty tumble dryer sparked the flames. Fire Brigade spokesperson warned:
“If your white goods start making strange noises, don’t ignore it. Unplug immediately and get in touch with the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician.”
“Most fires caused by white goods aren’t your fault – so always register your appliances to get alerts about any safety concerns.”
Register Your Appliances – Don’t Wait for Disaster
The reminder comes as a vital heads-up to homeowners to keep their household appliances in check. Registering your white goods could be the difference between safety and a deadly fire.
