Tragic A40 Crash: Mother and Three Kids Killed Near Oxford
The four victims of a deadly crash on the A40 just west of Oxford have been formally named. Zoe Powell, 29, from Chinnor, and her three children — Phoebe, 8, Simeon, 6, and Amelia, 4 — lost their lives in the horror smash.
The collision happened at around 9.50pm on Monday (12/10) between a silver Subaru and a white HGV.
Survivors in Hospital
Two others in the Subaru survived but were seriously injured. Josh Powell, 30, a passenger, and his 18-month-old daughter remain in stable condition at John Radcliffe Hospital. Their names have been withheld.
Police Pay Tribute, Call for Respect
Sergeant Dominic Mahon of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“Thank you to all who came forward with witness statements and helped at the scene. I pay tribute to officers, ambulance crews, fire services, hospital staff, and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance team who attended this tragic incident.”
“We also thank Dr Wassim Shamsuddin from Milton Keynes University Hospital for rushing to help. The Powell family has expressed their gratitude for the support received.”
“No arrests have been made and speculation only causes distress. We urge everyone to respect the ongoing investigation and the family’s privacy at this difficult time.”
“The HGV driver has co-operated fully with police and provided a witness statement. We continue to support all involved.”
