Man Hospitalised After High-Speed Ramming and Suspicious Substance Attack in East London

Deliberate Crash in Canary Wharf Shocker

A 25-year-old man is in hospital after a terrifying attack on a busy East London road. Just after midnight on April 24, the victim was chased and deliberately rammed off Baffin Way, outside the Ibis Docklands Hotel near Canary Wharf.

Witnesses say a car pursued the young man at high speed before crashing into his vehicle, forcing it onto the pavement and smashing into a pole.

Suspicious Substance Throws Alarm

As if the crash wasn’t enough, attackers reportedly hurled a strange sandy or powdery material over the victim immediately after the collision. Early reports suggest the substance might be corrosive, sparking fears of a potential acid attack.

“We are investigating a serious incident on Baffin Way involving a road traffic collision and reports of a harmful substance being thrown at a man. The scene has been secured and inquiries are ongoing,” confirmed a police spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital. His condition is not officially disclosed, but insiders say his injuries are serious yet not life-threatening.

A hotel guest described the frantic scene: “I heard a loud bang and saw flashing lights. Then there was shouting and a lot of commotion—police rushed in and locked everything down.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Authorities urge anyone who was in the area around midnight, especially those with dashcam or phone footage, to come forward immediately. Witnesses can contact the Met Police at 101 quoting the incident reference number, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, Transport for London warns commuters to avoid the area as road closures remain in place while investigations continue.
