Dan Wootton Cleared After High-Profile Police Probe

TV presenter Dan Wootton has been completely cleared of all alleged criminal behaviour following investigations by the Metropolitan Police and Police Scotland. The broadcaster, famous for breaking the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal exit story, expressed his relief after authorities confirmed no charges would be filed.

28-Page Dossier Sparked Squad Inquiry

Last October, the Met launched an investigation into Wootton after receiving a detailed 28-page dossier from Byline Times journalists. Despite admitting to some “errors of judgment” in his past, Wootton firmly denied any criminal wrongdoing. Now, after thorough police checks, both forces said he faces no further action.

Wootton Speaks Out: “The Process Is the Punishment”

“I have now been completely cleared in two investigations by the Metropolitan and Scottish police, who have confirmed they will be taking no further action,” Wootton said through his lawyer. “While I knew this would always be the outcome, the process is now the punishment, with social media acting as the executioner.”

He also quoted former PM Margaret Thatcher to stress the importance of fairness: “If you ever get trial by media, or guilt by accusation, that day freedom dies. It is high time that all of our ancient rights were once again upheld, chief among them the right to be presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.”
