Mid-Air Crash Shocks Cruisers on Norwegian’s Osprey Zip Line

Chaos erupted on Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay, when two riders smashed into each other mid-zip line in a terrifying accident. The shocking collision happened on Monday, December 29, 2025, near the island’s busiest zip line spot.

Eyewitnesses say the first rider got stuck on a tricky dip, hanging helplessly high above the ground. Moments later, another rider sped down the same line – slamming straight into the stranded passenger.

“It was terrible to see,” a witness told Candid Cruise & Travel. “You could hear them screaming for help until one passed out, either from heat or pain. He was stuck up there for over an hour.”

Poor communication between zip line staff at the top and bottom is blamed for the harrowing crash.

The incident quickly blew up across Facebook groups and Reddit’s r/NCL community — though the Reddit post disappeared soon after. Posts described how the victim hung unconscious, stranded above the ground for more than an hour before rescue teams arrived near Vibe Shore Club.

Norwegian Cruise Line has gone radio silent, releasing no official statement about the crash or injured passengers.

Osprey Zip Line: Thrill or Peril?

The Osprey Zip Line is one of Norwegian’s top shore excursions on Great Stirrup Cay. It features three nerve-wracking flights, kicking off with a stomach-dropping 120-foot plunge, then sailing along two longer lines stretching up to 850 feet across lush island canopy.

“The Osprey traverse gets its name from the bird of prey commonly seen perched on our decks and consists of 3 easy flights. The first flight is the shortest at 185 feet and tallest at 120 feet high,” the company boasts.

“Easy doesn’t mean without fear! The second flight flies riders 75 feet above the ground, gliding 850 feet to the next landing.”

What Now? Passengers and Fans Demand Answers

At the time of the crash, the Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Prima were docked at Great Stirrup Cay. The eyewitness was aboard the Norwegian Joy during the terrifying incident.

With anxious holidaymakers and cruise fans yelling for explanations, all eyes are locked on Norwegian Cruise Line for an official update. This hair-raising accident is a grim reminder: even paradise can turn deadly — especially when you’re hanging in mid-air.
