Air raid sirens sounded for the ninth day running in Tel Aviv, sparking fresh panic across the city. The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has warned of possible incoming rockets, as tensions soar in the region.
Hamas Holds 126 Hostages, Death Toll Rises
The IDF confirmed Hamas has taken 126 people captive in southern Israel since last week’s brutal assault. So far, at least 279 Israeli soldiers have lost their lives since October 7. The total death toll in Israel has tragically hit 1,300.
Meanwhile, Gaza suffers even heavier losses, with casualties soaring past 2,300.
Egypt Steps Up Aid and Calls for Peace Summit
Egypt is racing to ramp up aid shipments into Gaza, collaborating with international partners to ease the crisis. The Egyptian presidency stressed the importance of national security and rejected any moves to displace Palestinians or threaten neighbouring countries.
In a bold move, Egypt has offered to host a summit to tackle the Gaza conflict and the broader Palestinian issue, signalling a push for regional stability.
UK Official Voices Concern Over Hostages and Civilian Casualties
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly spoke on Sky News, confirming Britain believes about 10 hostages have been taken by Hamas. He warned that civilian casualties must be kept to an absolute minimum.
“Minimising casualties is crucial to prevent the conflict from spiralling into a wider war involving the Muslim world and more of the international community,” said Cleverly.
The UK urges the Israeli Defence Forces to exercise restraint and discipline during their operations, in hopes of avoiding a broader regional nightmare.
