Armed Robbery Rocks Gosport Wine Store

Police are hunting a masked thug who hit the Grande Wine Store on Palmyra Road, Gosport. The terrifying raid happened just after 9:30pm on Sunday, March 27.

Masked Gunman Threatens Staff

A staff member was threatened at gunpoint by a man described as white, between 6ft and 6ft 3ins tall and skinny. The robber wore a black padded raincoat with the hood up, dark trousers, black ski gloves, and a mask. He brandished what was described as a handgun and made off with £340 from the till. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Rare Crime in Quiet, Stormy Night

Detective Constable Julie Way said, “This is an extremely rare incident and doesn’t seem linked to any other reports. The premises were targeted on a wet, windy night when few people were about.”

Officers are still investigating whether the weapon was real or an imitation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“I’m especially keen to hear from a man and a woman who used the store shortly beforehand and may have seen what happened,” said DC Way. “I’d also like to hear from anyone who may have found discarded clothing in the area.”
