Man in Ventnor Sex attack is bailed by Police on the the Isle of Wight

A 35-year-old man who was arrested during a sex attack in Ventnor on Tuesday evening has been bailed by Police. His arrest came after officers put St Catherine’s Church graveyard on Tuesday in lockdown following an accusation that a rape has taken place in broad daylight just after 5.30pm The man was questioned and further investigations are required. After spending 18 hours in Police custody, the man has been released on Police bail until next month, Hampshire Constabulary say they are continuing to investigate the incident and the 35-year-old will return to Newport Police Station on 16th July 2019.
