Fatal Accident at Eden Park Station Sparks Safety Probe

Tragic Death at Kent Station

A fatal accident at Eden Park station in Kent on 26 February 2020 is under investigation by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB). The victim, who had impaired vision, tragically lost their life in the incident.

Platform Safety Under Scrutiny

Like many UK mainline stations, Eden Park’s platform edge lacks tactile surfaces that warn visually impaired passengers when they’re near the edge. RAIB will focus on this safety feature and other underlying factors that might have contributed to the accident.

Independent Investigation and Future Safety Measures

The RAIB’s inquiry is entirely separate from investigations by British Transport Police, the railway industry, and the Office of Rail and Road regulator. After completing their probe, RAIB will publish a report detailing their findings and any safety recommendations to prevent similar tragedies.

Stay tuned for updates as the investigation unfolds.
