Young NHS Hero Stabbed Dead in Brutal Unprovoked Attack
Detectives are desperate for leads after David Gomoh, a 24-year-old marketing graduate and NHS keyworker, was fatally stabbed in Newham. The horrific attack happened at 10.30pm on Sunday, 26 April, just seconds after David left his home.
Stabbed Moments After Leaving Home
The stabbing took place on Freemasons Road, E16, near Kerry Close. David was on the phone to a female friend when masked men launched a savage assault, stabbing him multiple times. There was no argument—David was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
David’s family is shattered. Less than a week before, they had lost his father to a Covid-19 related illness, with the funeral scheduled for 29 April. David himself, like his nurse mother, worked tirelessly in the NHS helping to supply vital equipment during the pandemic.
Police: “Nothing to Suggest Any Motive”
“David’s family are enduring unimaginable torment,” said Detective Inspector Tony Kirk from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. “In days, his mother has lost both husband and son. His sister has lost her brother and father. “David worked hard to put himself through university and served the community with the NHS. We believe the only reason he was murdered was because he was walking down the street. “This was a planned attack, executed by masked men, with no clear motive. David’s family deserves justice.”
Stolen Car and Crucial Witness Appeal
Police believe the attackers fled in a stolen Silver Dodge Caliber, abandoned shortly after at Lincoln Road, E13, following a risky no-entry manoeuvre from Cumberland Road. The car, stolen in Dagenham on 16 April, carried cloned plates.
Detectives urgently want to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle before or after the stabbing. Dashcam or CCTV footage from the area could be vital.
Met Police Specialist Crime Command detectives are standing by. No arrests have been made.
