Train Crash Near Salisbury Leaves Several Injured

Chaos erupted near Salisbury station as two trains collided in a major incident shortly before 7pm on Sunday. One train derailed inside Fisherton Tunnel and was then hit by another service, causing injuries and panic.

Drivers and Passengers Describe Terrifying Impact

A driver was trapped in his cab but was quickly rescued and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the PA news agency confirmed.

“I was pretty scared,” passenger Demitri said. “I heard a big crash and saw flames. Then the lights went out, and the train tilted about 45 degrees to the right.”

Local resident Tamar Vellacott, 25, described the aftermath as “a long rumbling sound like thunder.”

Multiple Injuries, No Fatalities

British Transport Police reported a number of injuries but confirmed there have been no deaths. Earlier reports suggested up to a dozen passengers were hurt.

British Transport Police Inspector Mullah Hoque said: “A number of people have been injured. Most are walking wounded. Thankfully, there have been no fatalities.”

“A small number of people, including the driver, have been taken to hospital for assessment.”

All passengers on board were safely evacuated following the collision. Emergency services remain at the scene to investigate the cause. Train services in the area are currently disrupted.
