Man Caught Doing 136mph on M4 Slammed with Driving Ban
Vasile Lucut, 26, from Bridgwater, Somerset, has been hit with a 60-day driving ban after admitting to blasting along the M4 at a startling 136mph. The speeding offence happened on September 20, just after midnight.
Police Clock Speedster Nearly Double the Limit
Officers from the 1 Police Roads Policing Unit spotted Lucut racing between junctions 16 and 17. Initially recorded at 108mph, his speed rocketed to 130mph before peaking at a terrifying 136mph in a 70mph zone.
Fines and Furious Warning
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on November 2, Lucut pleaded guilty and was fined £700. He must also pay a £280 victim surcharge and £85 costs. PC Steve Harding blasted his reckless driving:
“At almost double the speed limit, this was an absurd speed to be driving at. Lucut is incredibly fortunate he wasn’t involved in a collision with another vehicle, road furniture, or debris, which would’ve almost certainly resulted in severe injury or death.”
“At those speeds, there’s almost no time to react if something unexpected happens. Hopefully, the disqualification and fine will make him think twice before doing it again.”
