Tragic dog attack kills four-year-old girl in Milton Keynes

Heartbreaking incident in Netherfield

Thames Valley Police are investigating after a four-year-old girl was fatally attacked by a dog in the back garden of a home in Broadlands, Netherfield, Milton Keynes. Officers rushed to the scene just after 5pm on January 31st but sadly the child died at the property.

Police keep investigation at full pace

Superintendent Marc Tarbit, Local Policing Area Commander for Milton Keynes, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the girl who has died in this extremely tragic incident.” Officers remain at the scene and continue to carry out multiple enquiries. The police urge anyone with information to contact them via 101, quoting reference 1546 (31/1).

The dog involved was destroyed by armed officers at the scene yesterday evening. It is believed to have been a family pet, but the breed has not yet been confirmed.

Community urged to respect family’s privacy

Supt Tarbit added: “There has been widespread speculation about the incident which is not helpful and is distressing for the family, who have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.” No arrests have been made so far.
