Blaze rips through Belsize Park flat as firefighters battle flames

Four fire engines rush to Aspern Grove

This morning, four fire engines and around 25 firefighters stormed to a flat fire on Aspern Grove in Belsize Park. The blaze tore through half of a three-room flat on the first floor of a five-story block.

Heroic rescue amid thick smoke

Wearing breathing apparatus, brave crews pulled one man to safety from the smoke-filled flat. The London Ambulance Service rushed him to hospital for treatment.

Fire Brigade clocks just under an hour tackling the flames

The London Fire Brigade was alerted at 11:23 a.m. and wrapped up operations by 12:18 p.m. Firefighters from West Hampstead, Kentish Town, Euston, and Paddington stations all pitched in.

Cause of fire under investigation

Fire chiefs are now probing the origins of the blaze. No further details have been released yet.
