Two Men Jailed for Brutal Roadside Assault in Rock Ferry

Kieran Salkeld, 28, from Beechwood, Wirral, has been locked up for 27 months for assault and an extra nine months for affray. His mate, 22-year-old Jake Duffy from the same area, got two years for assault plus nine months for affray. Both were sentenced today at Liverpool Crown Court.

Red Vauxhall Crossland Used in Shocking Attack

The violent duo chased down a cyclist near Bedford Road and Highfield Road junction in Rock Ferry just before midday on Friday, December 23. They launched a savage attack, leaving the victim with serious injuries to his face and lower back. The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Swift Police Action and No Sign of Remorse

Duffy was nabbed on January 5, with Salkeld caught two days later. Both were charged with affray and attempted grievous bodily harm on January 9.

“Salkeld and Duffy showed no remorse for their victim as they brutally attacked him on a residential street in front of several witnesses,” said Detective Inspector Anna Hackett.

“The attack caused great fear in our community, and I would like to thank the residents who assisted our officers with their investigation.”

“I hope this outcome demonstrates that such physical violence will not be tolerated or accepted on Merseyside’s streets, and we will thoroughly investigate and prosecute any offenders.”
