Man Arrested After Essex Cop Attacked in Early Morning Assault
Officer Injured on Canvey Island
A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a brutal assault on an Essex Police officer in Canvey Island at 4am this Saturday, 4 November. The victim suffered neck injuries during the attack on First Avenue and was rushed to hospital.
Investigation Underway
The injured officer has since been discharged and is recovering with full police support. A police scene remains active at the location as officers carry out ongoing enquiries throughout the day.
Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Waldie said: “We are taking this assault extremely seriously and it is totally unacceptable one of our officers had their life put in danger whilst trying to keep the public safe.”
“The arrested man remains in custody and we reassure the public that there is no risk as a result of this incident.”
