Kent Highways confirmed via Twitter that traffic was stopped while officers attended the scene. Police received the welfare call at 10:55 am and quickly deployed to the area.

“Police were called at 10:55 am on Thursday, May 16, 2024, to a concern for the welfare of a person near Hall Road, Northfleet. Officers promptly responded, implementing a road closure on the A2 while addressing the situation. We can confirm that the individual is now safe, and the road closure has been lifted.” – Kent Police spokesperson

Drivers faced huge congestion as tailbacks reportedly stretched to the Bean interchange and Cobham Services, according to AA reports. By 12:07 pm, Kent Highways announced traffic had been released and delays were easing.
