PC Terrence Ellis sacked after vile sexist abuse at work

PC Terrence Ellis, who served on the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Command, has been fired following a damning four-day gross misconduct hearing.

Abusive behaviour exposed

Back in September 2022, Ellis reportedly used threatening, abusive, and insulting language towards a female colleague. He also made outright sexist and misogynistic remarks to another woman at work.

Following these allegations, Ellis was immediately suspended pending investigation.

Dismissed without notice

After reviewing all evidence, the disciplinary panel dismissed Ellis without notice on Friday, 19 July. The decision sends a clear message that such behaviour won’t be tolerated.

Command chief slams ex-officer’s conduct

Chief Superintendent Andy Burton, who oversees policing at the command, condemned Ellis’s actions. He said:

“PC Ellis’s disgusting behaviour and language has led to his dismissal, a decision I fully support and welcome. This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable in the organisation and I hope this outcome demonstrates how we are rooting out those who do not demonstrate the standards we demand from our officers.

“I would like to recognise the courage and professionalism of the officers who challenged this behaviour.”

Ellis added to police barred list

Following the hearing, Ellis has been placed on the College of Policing’s barred list. This means he is permanently banned from working for any police force, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.

His disgraceful fall from grace is a stark warning to others who think they can get away with misconduct behind the badge.
