Lightning Strike Sparks Flat Roof Blaze in Swanscombe

Firefighters rushed to Childs Crescent, Swanscombe, in the early hours of Sunday, September 8, after a flat roof caught fire. Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) sent two fire engines to tackle the blaze.

Blaze Quickly Brought Under Control

Crews wearing breathing apparatus doused the flames with high-pressure hose reel jets. The KFRS Volunteer Response Team also pitched in to help. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

Cause Confirmed: Lightning Strike

Initial investigations reveal the fire was sparked by a lightning strike and has been officially ruled accidental. Firefighters stayed on site until just after 3:30 AM to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

KFRS thanked locals for their cooperation and urged everyone to stay vigilant during stormy weather. The service reassured the public that the situation was now completely safe.
