Violent Brawl Rocks Hove Seafront Venue
Three men have landed behind bars following a brutal spree of violence at Rockwater, a popular spot on Hove seafront. The terrifying scenes unfolded during a celebration on the evening of November 25, 2022, leaving several people seriously injured.
Attack Outside and Inside the Venue
Abdulmajid Mohamed, 30, Fouad Al Soufah, 29, and Michael Evans, 29, all from West London, were caught up in a savage confrontation outside Rockwater. Mohamed and Al Soufah first clashed with three men, holding two of them against a marquee and punching a 23-year-old from Southwark. Mohamed then struck another 23-year-old from Bromley on the head, sparking chaos as guests and staff fled.
Inside the venue, Mohamed grabbed a heavy tequila bottle, smashing it in an attempt to cause more damage. Despite being wrestled to disarm, he quickly armed himself again, escalating the violence further alongside his accomplices.
Brutal Assaults Leave Victims Bloodied
- Evans and Al Soufah severely beat a 21-year-old Brighton man, pushing him down and kicking him repeatedly.
- Mohamed joined in, breaking the victim’s ankle.
- When a 21-year-old from Chichester tried to intervene, Mohamed hit him with a bottle, leaving deep cuts on his forehead.
- Another man suffered a hit from behind by Mohamed as he attempted to call the police.
Justice Served—But Fugitive Still on the Loose
Police swiftly arrested Mohamed and Evans as they tried to escape. Al Soufah handed himself in for questioning a few months later. After a trial, Mohamed was found guilty of two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. Al Soufah was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent, affray, and assault. Evans received convictions for affray and grievous bodily harm without intent.
In September 2024 at Hove Crown Court:
- Al Soufah was jailed for four years.
- Evans got a 12-month suspended sentence, 200 hours unpaid work, plus rehabilitation.
- Mohamed, who fled and failed to show in court, was sentenced in absentia to six years and is now wanted by police.
“The victims suffered long-lasting injuries, and these sentences reflect the serious violence these men inflicted,” said Investigating Officer Jonathan Craze.
The police are urging anyone with info on Mohamed to call 999 immediately quoting reference 28 of 26/11/2022.
