Two Men Nabbed After £2,000 Tool Heist in Royal Wootton Bassett

Quick police work led to the arrest of two men caught red-handed stealing £2,000 worth of tools from a van on Washbourne Road.

Chase Ends in Hay Lane as Suspects Busted

The crime was reported at 11:45 a.m. on November 8. Just 25 minutes later, cops had the suspects in custody after spotting a black Mazda 3 described by the van owner. Roads Policing officers stopped the car in Hay Lane, swindon/" title="Swindon" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Swindon. One suspect tried to flee on foot but was nabbed fast, while the other stayed put by the vehicle.

Suspects Held on Multiple Charges

  • Men aged 27 and 61 arrested for theft from a motor vehicle
  • 27-year-old also charged with driving without a licence and insurance
  • Countless stolen tools recovered from the Mazda

Roads Policing Officer Ben Greening said, “The theft of tools can have a huge financial impact on tradespeople, directly affecting their livelihoods. We’re committed to responding swiftly to such incidents and have increased resources to tackle these crimes robustly.”
