Police have launched an urgent appeal following reports of a suspicious man in Manchester city centre on Tuesday evening. The incident has prompted increased police presence around the Deansgate area.

Two separate reports were received around 9:20pm on Tuesday regarding a suspicious man in the Deansgate area. Witnesses indicated the individual may have been carrying a weapon, though no direct threats were made to members of the public.

The suspicious man’s route has been traced from The Arndale, passing the Royal Exchange Theatre, through Cross Street to Albert Square, before proceeding down Deansgate.
