Gunman Jailed for 32 Years Over Coventry Park Shooting

Raydell Lennox, 19, has been jailed for 32 years after being found guilty of shooting a man in the face in Caludon Castle Park, Coventry, during a violent attack last October.

The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained serious, life-changing facial injuries in what police described as a targeted shooting. After the attack, Lennox fled the UK in an attempt to evade justice but was arrested upon his return and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Trial and Sentencing

Lennox was convicted following a two-week trial at Coventry Crown Court. On May 19, 2025, he was sentenced to 32 years in prison.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:
“This was a cold-blooded, deliberate act of violence. The victim is lucky to be alive.”

A burnt-out vehicle, believed to be linked to the shooting, was discovered by police just days after the incident, further tying Lennox to the crime.

Community Impact

The shooting sent shockwaves through the Caludon Castle Park community. Local residents expressed relief at the sentencing but remain concerned about firearm violence in urban areas.

“This sentence should send a strong message that gun crime will not be tolerated in Coventry,” said a local councillor.
