Massive Fire Sends Thick Black Smoke Over Rainham
Residents across Medway and beyond were left stunned tonight as huge plumes of thick black smoke filled the sky after a fire broke out near Meresborough Road, Rainham.
Fire Crews Battle Blaze at Fruit Box Pile
Six fire engines and a bulk water carrier raced to the scene after a large pile of fruit boxes caught fire in a nearby field. Eyewitnesses reported the flames spreading rapidly, with smoke visible as far away as Sheppey.
“The smoke looked massive from my window – it seemed to cover half the sky. We could even smell it indoors,” said one shocked resident.
Roads Blocked as Emergency Services Take Control
Meresborough Road remains jam-packed with emergency vehicles as crews continue battling the blaze. Authorities urge local residents to steer clear of the area and keep windows and doors firmly shut due to heavy smoke.
