Wiltshire Schools Evacuated After Serious Threats Spark Police Action
Chaos hit two Wiltshire schools as police swooped following reports of serious threats. Both staff and pupils were rushed out for safety, sparking panic across the region.
Devizes School and Nova Hreod Academy Evacuated
On the morning of Tuesday, 16 September 2025, officers responded to urgent incidents at Devizes School in Devizes and Nova Hreod Academy in Swindon. Both schools were fully evacuated amid fears of danger. Parents were quickly alerted by email, though details remained scarce. Meanwhile, Melksham Oak Community School also sent a warning message by mistake but later reassured parents it was an error.
Police Search Finds No Credible Threat
A Devizes School spokesperson confirmed the evacuation followed a threatening phone call. They said, “We immediately sought police advice as per our Incident Response Plan. Police thoroughly searched the site and completed a risk assessment. Thankfully, there’s no evidence of any credible threat. Students are now safely back in class and continuing as normal.”
Nova Hreod Academy Principal Praises Calm Response
James Harding Mbogo, Principal of Nova Hreod Academy, told parents: “The evacuation this morning was due to a safety concern. The issue was later found to be spurious. Everyone followed evacuation procedures impeccably. With police guidance, the situation is now resolved, and the school day continues as normal.”
