Tragic Crash in Laleham: Traveller Killed, Friend Critically Hurt

A man from the local travelling community has died in a crash involving his off-road motorbike and a BMW 3 Series. A second rider is fighting for life with severe, life-changing injuries.

Witnesses Hear Bang After Motorbike Revving

The fatal smash happened Sunday evening near Laleham Park. Neighbours reported hearing the motorbike revving loudly, followed by a sudden bang. The impact occurred near the play area car park at the junction of Abbey Drive and Ferry Lane.

Surrey Police’s Roads Policing Unit has launched a full investigation. A specialist team from Sussex and Surrey’s Serious Collision unit is conducting a forensic examination. The road remains closed in both directions while inquiries continue.

Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses following the collision on Shepperton Road, Laleham, which sadly claimed one life and left another seriously injured.”

Police were called at 5:54pm after the collision between a scrambler-type motorbike and a blue BMW. The BMW driver escaped unharmed. The biker who died was pronounced at the scene. The other rider was rushed to hospital.

Authorities are urging anyone who saw the crash, witnessed erratic driving from either vehicle between 5:30pm and 6pm, or has dashcam or helmet cam footage to come forward.
